Dr. Shailesh Sivan

Dr. Shailesh Sivan is a distinguished technology evangelist, educator, and researcher with a rich blend of academic depth and industry expertise. He currently serves as the Principal AI Architect at Laennec AI India Pvt. Ltd., a UK-based company, while on academic leave from his role as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

Dr. Shailesh holds a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Kerala University, an M.Tech in Computer and Information Science from CUSAT, and an M.Sc in Mathematics from the University of Madras. He earned his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Applications, CUSAT, for his pioneering research on “AI Techniques for Analyzing Classical Dance.”

With over 9 years of experience in teaching and research and 5 years in the IT industry as a Senior Software Engineer, Dr. Shailesh brings an exceptional blend of theoretical knowledge and practical insights. His expertise spans across diverse domains of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, including Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Data Mining, Soft Computing, Quantum Computing, and Knowledge Graphs.

A passionate researcher and academic leader, he currently guides four Ph.D. scholars as a recognized Research Supervisor under the Faculty of Technology, CUSAT. His academic excellence is further demonstrated by his multiple qualifications in UGC-NET/JRF and GATE.

Dr. Shailesh is the author of the widely acclaimed book “Algorithmic Thinking with Python”, which has sold over 3,000 copies and is celebrated for its practical approach to algorithmic learning. He has published 50+ research papers in reputed international journals, conferences, and edited volumes, and holds two granted patents in AI applications.

As a passionate knowledge disseminator, he has been a resource person for more than 150 workshops, seminars, and invited talks, empowering faculty, students, and industry professionals. He is actively collaborating with industries and government organizations as a Technology Consultant, providing strategic direction in architecting and deploying cutting-edge AI-driven solutions.
