Dear friends,
As we are all aware, widespread flooding continues to cause devastation in Kerala... rescue and relief efforts continued on a war footing even as rains and fresh landslides were reported in some places... A large number of people, including senior citizens and children, were airlifted from isolated buildings, while many others were evacuated in boats, large fishing vessels and makeshift yachts...
...and this has also prevented thousands of students from going back to school... many of the students' homes and belongings are damaged or destroyed....during and after the flood, students often rely on elders to help them return to a normal school routine... children and youth are generally resilient and most will readily bounce back from the impact of the flood, especially if they have appropriate resources, and support from caring adults.
We the Computer Science and IT students, teachers, alumni and industry professionals based at University of Calicut have formed a collective #anbodu CU-IT, intended to support community resilience to disasters. Here we foresee the re-establishing education and restore a sense of normalcy for the students as the future demand.
Let us join our hands together to bring them back to schools.
Together we shall overcome.
With warm regards,
